Death and renewal

This is typically the hot season in Cambodia. Battambang has seen very high temperatures of 38-40 for a few weeks. When I was there at the end of March, temperatures had cooled because of the unexpected rains.

One downpour last week was particularly violent, leading to the drowning of some of our flies which can't fly when they're wings get wet. Many drowned in the 1 cm water that pooled as a result. Sad day for our precious young flies. Few laid eggs before they passed.

Everything changed 2 days later. We had an explosion of growth, and happily, an happy supply of eggs within a day!

So the cycle continues, and the farm is going strong.
